They're a national institution here in the UK.

I also have to mention Kirstie MacColl and the Pogues' "Fairy Tale of New York" and "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses.Steve Does Comicshttp://stevedoescomics.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-60097329561507620212010-08-20T09:39:40.714-05:002010-08-20T09:39:40.714-05:00ACTUALLY.. I feel quite the opposite on 'Merry Christmas (War is Over)' and 'Wonderful Christmastime'..

I like John a lot (big Fab fan..), and his songs had depth(when they actually had a message..), but 'War is Over' is just a guilt-trip at Christmas, and I turn it off. Contrasting, it's not the Holidays until I play Macca's 'Christmastime'. The live version (on the rare bootleg 'Last Flight' CD) with Laurence Juber's guitar solo is FANTASTIC, and very festive to listen to..! The video's a bit homespun, but generally fun to watch them around the tavern folk.david_bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00218727673816200051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-31267027704111612952009-12-24T11:05:39.586-06:002009-12-24T11:05:39.586-06:00Whoo-hoo!
