You really feel like you're up there with our favourite webslinger!

As for the X-men poster, I really like the image of Storm - Ross looks like he was channelling the late Dave (the Dude) Cockrum; Cockrum always seemed to draw her face really angular with high cheekbones. In my opinion, no one ever drew Ororo quite like dapper Dave. I think Ross deliberately painted it this way as an homage to Dave.

- Mike 'Angela Bassett shoulda played Storm' from Trinidad & Tobago.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-87528441307906435262014-02-20T18:55:53.959-06:002014-02-20T18:55:53.959-06:00Not mannequins. I looked at the shiny eyes to see if Ross was consistent with the manner in which he usually draws the mask and to make sure Ross had drawn the departing webline in his right hand.

Ah, well.

Doug Doughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04248324005584963229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-23460309464699939212014-02-20T18:52:34.346-06:002014-02-20T18:52:34.346-06:00Nice shot of Spider-crotch. Poor choice likely resulting from Ross' overreliance on models.

I didn't even realize Iceman was in the X-Men drawing until someone mentioned it. Washed right out. Awful composition on both of these. Was Ross rushed? Never been a Ross fan but usually his composition is good even if his figures are stiff and look like mannequins.Doc Savagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08783244633195233970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-24479472386019427062014-02-20T11:24:45.371-06:002014-02-20T11:24:45.371-06:00I like the X-Men image, except there's too muc...I like the X-Men image, except there's too much cool coloring in the background. Iceman, who is supposed to be in front, fades right back into the background figures.

The Spidey image looks like Ross on autopilot. Nothing really special about it, and instead of swinging movement, I get the feeling of a model posed on a table lying down.Garettnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-3415692919287483602014-02-20T10:12:13.599-06:002014-02-20T10:12:13.599-06:00I tend to like Alex Ross's stuff, but both of ...I tend to like Alex Ross's stuff, but both of these are leaving me cold.

Spidey looks awkward and the centering of Cyclops and Jean Grey in that very unnatural pose (looks like a cheesy prom or wedding picture, except with an optic blast) just seems totally wrong in tone.mr. oyolahttp://themiddlespaces.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5293155946761960913.post-52472627242922102682014-02-20T09:11:56.565-06:002014-02-20T09:11:56.565-06:00I love the X-Men image.
