Doug: In anticipation of Friday's U.S. premiere of Green Lantern, how about a trip back to the 1967 Filmation animated series? Enjoy!

  1. I know it's juvenile, I know it's silly, I know it's a touch homophobic, but by God do I never get tired of Kairo riding GL like Ace and Gary. Funny every time I see it.

  2. Love Ted Knight as Ted BaxTer narration.

  3. Wow, I never even knew this existed! It reminds me of a cross between the Herculoids and Johnny Quest. All in all, not very good. Some of those voices are very familiar, though. Must be from other Filmation cartoons. By the way, who the heck is Cairo?

  4. Kairo is like Thomas Kalmaku, GL's secret keeper and mechanic, but he's also a alien and a kid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Kalmaku

Anyways, it is so weird seeing the guardians as not blue-green skinned.

  5. I love this classic animated series. Though I wasn't around when this was aired then. Good thing they had it on DVD already.

  6. Not to mention, the shortened oath used when charging the power ring. I guess every hero in the Filmation universe had a side kick so it was eminent that GL would get one as well.
