Ah, the Cute Little Furball...

Doug: Let's talk about our four-legged friends, who at times have played a role in a given plot heading one direction or another. Quite simply, of the pets, acquaintances, and even in some cases partners -- of the animal persuasion -- who do you like, dislike, or have fond or hateful memories of?

For a short list (because around here, we always manage to leave someone out), see right below:
  • Lockjaw
  • Krypto
  • Lockheed
  • Streaky, the Super Cat
  • Ace, the Bat-hound
  • Aragorn
  • Beppo, the Super Monkey
  • Proty (Chameleon Boy)
  • Zabu
  • Redwing
  • Comet, the Super Horse

Between Redwing and Lockjaw. Lockjaw always had the best 'mug' and was used quite well in many comical situations with Ben Grimm.

Lockjaw had the best personality of 'em all, just by showing up..!!

+1 for Itty!(Green Lantern's sidekick in the Bronze Age.)

I always liked Lockjaw because he usually acted like a dog. I realize it's technically not Bronze Age, but his first few appearances were pretty cool. Especially when Wyatt and Johnny came across him trying to get back into Attilan.

But, I'm a dog trainer, so my choice is a little biased. :-)

Funny how we're actually drawn back to the Silver Age for some of our "likes".

I'd echo the love for Lockjaw in those first few Lee/Kirby Inhumans stories in FF. And yes -- Ben would have made a better (in terms of comic relief) master for Lockjaw than Crystal!

I liked Krypto in the Superboy stories in the years before the Legion moved into his book. There were some fun moments.

Lockjaw is my favorite, because I came to comics through 'Spidey Super Stories'. Lockjaw made several appearances in that title anytime Spider-man needed to travel through time or space, the big dog made it happen.

I generally like all the animal sidekicks, especially Streaky(because I've had several orange cats) and Ace,the Bathound. We have a very silly-looking dog,we even call him "Bathound" sometimes, here:

Ah, someone beat me to recommending Itty! Redwing was always awesome in Cap, but Lockjaw was more adorable.

I hated the solo Krypto stories, and preferred him as Superboy's sidekick.

Zabu! What little kid wouldn't want a sabertooth tiger for a pet?
And J.A., your 'Bathound' is such a cute little guy - how dare you call him silly-looking?

Thanks Edo,of course I meant "silly looking" in an affectionate way,Joejoe is a one-of-a-kind dog. He looks and acts like a cartoon dog.

Did anyone here read the recent 'Lockjaw And The Pet Avengers' mini-series? It was good, light fun, and I say that as someone who doesn't have much use for current Marvel comics.

I have to go with Krypto and Lockjaw. I'm a dog-person through and through.
