It's time for Cap's Kooky Quartet to shine.

Cap, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch. I'd throw in Goliath and Wasp for good measure.

Given the success of this one, we can sure hope the Hollywood types will open the floodgates for lesser known Avengers to shine.

Man, great poster, Doug.
And it's a little scary (okay, a LOT scary) to wrestle with the fact that the 30th anniversary it commemorates was *gulp* nearly 20 years ago-!!

Oy- (as they say) vey---!

Bring in? Vision, Wasp, and some iteration of Hank Pym.

Lose? Geeze, hard to say. That's probably driven more by marketing and studio forces than it is by story-telling priorities. I'd hate to speculate, 'cause it could come off sounding like a spoilsport.

It sure would be wild to see the Vision.

The Pyms, Wanda, Vision. Bad guy should be Kang or Ultron.

I don't see Wanda, but ol' Vish and the Pyms for sure.

Lose Hawkeye, Fury, and Widow. Bring in Quicksilver, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch. No Hank Pym, all his heroic identities blow.

Lose the widow...
I'd love to see Vision, Moondragon, and Jocasta!

Haven't seen the film yet, nor am I likely to anytime soon, so I can't talk about who should be dropped...
But I do think the Pyms should be there, although I don't know how this could be done in the movies and still them the 'founder' status they deserve. I can see a great storyline involving Hank Pym, which could lead to the introduction of Vision and, as the bad guy, Ultron. However, I can also see the creative team easily resorting to the 'Hank as wife-slapper' trope - so maybe no Pyms after all...
Otherwise, I think they should avoid mutants as well, so no Pietro and Wanda, either.
Black Panther would be really cool, and so would Ms. Marvel/Warhawk/whatever you want to call her, but definitely a powered up Carol Danvers. As a diehard Greer Nelson fan, I think Tigra would be a cool addition as well.

I love how folks stay 'Anonymous' when they have nasty things to say.

No guts, no glory, I guess.

Given the teaser scene in the print I saw last week, Moondragon would be TITANic but a Kree warrior would also be MARVEL-lous.

(I would have preferred a Vision/Ultron though.)

It seems crazy not to have a Spidey cameo, at least.

I would be very surprised in anyone of the current team was "out".

For a sequel - and lets hope the teaser means there will be one - I agree that Moondragon and Captain Marvel would be very interesting to see. ( can't see Pip making an major appearance though :-( )

As far as I'm concerned the major Avenger who is currently missing is the Vision. And I'm sure his powers would look cool on screen.

But, as the team is a little male dominanted another female Member would be nice, so maybe the Scarlet Witch, Wasp, Mockingbird, Tigra or maybe Ms. Marvel fulfilling the Captain Marvel role suggested above.

Keep everyone from the first movie, and toss in the Pyms. (Hank could be either Ant-Man or Giant-Man/Goliath).

In the second movie they could lay the groundwork for Ultron, and then have him as the villain in the third installment where they could introduce the Vision to the mix.

They can't have a Spidey cameo. Film rights to Spidey are not with the same studio.

I would like to see them get rid of the overbearing SHIELD and maybe bring in Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Visuon. Then you could have a romance and intra-team bigotry subplot.

P.S. Some of us are Anonymoud because we don't want to sign up.

What was "nasty"? Someone not liking Hawkeye, Black Widow, Ant-Man, and Samuel Fury? I guess David B is the arbiter of what characters can be liked?

I don't think there's a problem with posting anonymously, as long as a name or screen name is included. Karen and I really like this blog community that gathers daily. However, it's not much of a "community" when people make snarky comments in a drive-by fashion. I don't think there's anyone around here who doesn't appreciate a good argument - when there is an argument. To say, for example, that Hank Pym's heroic identities "blow", without a "why" or the means for another poster to specifically address the commenter isn't the sort of behavior that builds community.

Duh. I forgot that Spidey is another company's property. Who else would be precluded? The FF, I suppose?

If the majority of characters who could appear were those who haven't (or wouldn't) be optioned for a movie- how about Mantis and the Cotati?!

I would like to see the addition of Vision and the Scarlet Witch. Adding the Pyms would crowd it up a bit, I think.

I would really like to see Ultron, too.

First - I loved the movie! BUT... It's been over a year since the lineup was announced and I'm still fuming that Hank (Giant-Man) Pym and Janet (Wasp) Van Dynevwere left out! (That's like the justice league with no Wonder Woman and Flash!) How cool would it have been to see Giant-Man smashing flying Chitauri!?!? And they definitely need more women for the team. Their inclusion could set up for the intro of Vision and Ultron. That said, and much as I hate to lose the only female on the team, I'd drop Black Widow AND Hawkeye. Sorry, but I think if you spend all the time and expense of making a big budget movie about superheroes then the characters should have super powers you can show off. I liked Black Widow and Hawkeye, but they did't add anything other action movie stars have done.

"Avengers 2: Celestial"

Genius Henry Pym unveils his new creation, the android Vision, to the Avengers. Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, a mysterious woman employs superhuman martial arts to protect her child from the acolytes of Thanos, the Mad Titan...

Are you excited yet?

For Avengers 2, I would leave Hank & Jan out. A threequel with them and the Vision & Ultron would be great, but we seem to have immediately gone super-cosmic with the movies, so I’m not sure how you’d make that step back.

If we’re going Thanos, I’d like to see the Drax/Moondragon storyline. I think they’d both work well cinematically. Drax as a kind of Terminator, but formerly human and Moondragon adding some femininity (at least visually). In an interview, Scarlett said Whedon told her that her job was to stop it becoming a sausage-fest. He’s right, we need more girls. I think if Mar-Vell or Warlock show up, they will bring too much of their own mythos with them. You can still have a good Avengers vs Thanos ruck with Drax & Moondragon on board without the Avengers getting marginalised, but if CM & AW show up, we’re in a different movie.

It’s weird that Spidey is being re-booted by Sony. When I heard they were going back to the start, my first thought was: oh, so the rights have reverted back to Marvel, and now they’re going to reboot it so the mythos fits into the other Marvel franchises. But no. It’s just Sony looking to make another shedful of cash by telling us the origin story again.
