Karen: This October, there are some cool new monster toys available for fans. Diamond Select continues their minimate line with the Mummy and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. There's also the 8 inch line, which this year includes the Metaluna Mutant from This Island Earth, the Invisible Man, and the Phantom of the Opera. I really like that the Mutant comes with an interociter!
Mezco also has a pre-order for an 18" Frankenstein Monster that is more than a little reminiscent of the old 'Big Frankie' figure of the 60s. It has a big price tag too, $100! But it's kind of cool.
For those who prefer their figures to be Mego-style, Ecme Toys is producing 8" figures of the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Bride of Frankenstein. These are still pre-orders, due out October 19th.
What would Halloween be without Mad Monster Party? Now you can enjoy figures of the Count, Fang, and the Baron. These are great looking sculpts. You can buy these as a set or separately.

Although the Diamond Selects (some are shown here) are really nice (wow - mutant with interoceter!) I still think the late 90s-early 2000s Sideshow Toy Universal classics were the best. The sculpts were dead on, they were slightly larger, and the accessories were a riot! Really regret not having picked up the Lugosi Ygor & Chaney Masque of the Red Death. The Marvel classic monsters were so-so/iffy, though the Dracula did have a bit of "Plooginess" IMO.
Not interested in anything current, a 'guilty pleasure toy' I'd love to start collecting is some of the 'Mars Attacks' line from when that movie came out..
Just a fun toyline, totally capturing those early cards.
Y'know, this topic kind of sends my mind back to those terrific Aurora model kits-- the Movie Monster series?
I'm just heartbroken that I didn't manage to hang onto those (as bad as I was at assembling them. . . no deft hand had YoungBelly). But I did have them all, and LOVED assembling them & painting them & setting them up & gabbing about monsters w/ my pals, etc, etc.

HB, weren't those Aurora kits just awesome?? Sadly I came to the monsters a bit late, but I did have Batman, Spider-Man, and the Hulk. Hmm, would a post on model kits be appreciated??
