Discuss: Guys With Big Plans, Little Execution

The common denominator among the three "villains" pictured is that all three think they are smarter than they actually are, or perhaps it's better to say that as smart as they might seem to be, it comes to little as they can never ever control the complete world around them.

The Leader always seems to misunderstand the raw force of emotion, the Thinker always thinks he has accounted for all variables, and Wiley Coyote simply seems to misunderstand that he cannot even count on the physics of the world to be consistent enough for him to succeed.

They think they have a handle on it, but alas none of them and none of us really do.

Others I'd put on the list are the JSA's Per Degaton and the JLA's T.O.Morrow.

I think a shoe-in for this category is Fabian Stankowicz, the Mechano-Marauder. Our friend Comicsfan reminded me of this criminal mastermind in a series of posts earlier this year, beginning with this one: http://peerlesspower.blogspot.com/2013/02/beware-mechano-marauder.html.

Woops! I saw the title before the illustrations loaded up, and thought this post would be about certain artists we've all been frustrated by. It seems to me that some, like Neal Adams or Jim Steranko, were always promising this big ambitious projects that never quite materialized. Or worse yet, they would start them, but never finish them.

It seems that every individual or organization bent on world domination always seems to falter whenever our heroes show up. However, some villains never seem to get it right : the Leader always ran into the Hulk who thwarted his plans, Wiley Coyote never could catch that pesky roadrunner and the Thinker always got foiled by the FF.

Also on this list - the Puppet Master, Arcade (X-men foe), Egghead, the Ringmaster and the Circus of Crime, and last but certainly not least our buddies in the goofy beekeeper hats, AIM.

- Mike 'big plans to mow lawn, but little execution' from Trinidad & Tobago.

What Unknown said about artists, and I specifically thought of Steranko too at first. Love his work, but are we ever going to see Chandler available to buy again in my lifetime. Sheesh Jim get it together already!

Am I the only one who never thought the Thinker's "Awesome Android" wasn't very awesome?
