Saturday Morning Memories: Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp!

Karen: My older brother absolutely hated this show, but I loved it. It caused some fights over the TV, I can tell you that! But really, who could hate the Evolution Revolution?

This is a stupid stupid television show, that despite that infusion of stupidity was entertaining, at least it was to a young kid. Secret Agents were literally everywhere.

I'd loved to have been present when they pitched this one to the executives.

To be honest, my older brother and Dad loved this show. My Dad, loved him to bits, was always into those silly 'chimps playing cards' photos you saw at gas stations, etc..

It was all 'lowest common denominator' stuff who scoff at when others are around, then you secretly giggle at when you're with other like-minded friends.

My Dad certainly had his 'silly streak' and everyone loved him for it. So I find this show every endearing, so thankful for the memories it made growing up.

I just want to reiterate mine and Karen's position on people who come onto blogs and attempt to leave their self-promoting spam: There is an especially hot corner in Hell for you. Please stop doing that. Thank you.

Most of you won't know what I'm talking about, as we try to immediately delete such comments so that you don't have to see their junk disguised as commerce.

Got that off my chest. Now back to the chimps.

I either blocked it out, or the Chimps never made it to our TV. Wow...that show is weird.
But I'm sure the kids loved it. My brain is a bit conflicted when I watch Secret Chimp. I can't help but be reminded of Chimp attacks in the news.

Like Teresa, I've not only never seen this, I'd never even heard of it until now. And I just watched a few clips besides the ones you posted - wow, weird is an understatement.
And also like Teresa, I'm really not sure what to think about the whole concept: I can't help but think those chimps were not having a lot of fun...

Pretty innovative though, you have to hand it to 'em.

Not easy teaching a simian to keep time on drums, much less master the bass.

Sadly, unlike Edo, I have seen this show. Can't say it was one of my favourites. The chimps look like they were just going through the motions until they got fed.

Damn that Planet of the Apes. It caused irreparable damage to the popular culture of this country in the 70's.
