Vacation Time!, Plus Breaking "Age of Ultron" News

Doug: Yep, it's that time of year again -- time for the inmates to run the asylum for a month! As has become our tradition the past two Januarys, Karen and I will not be posting any new content until February 1st. In our place, we'll still have that BAB flavor added to your laptop or desktop every day in the form of some do-it-yourself posts as well as some classic re-runs.

Doug: Over the past two years the Marvel Firsts series of trade paperbacks has been a great buy for each of us, as well as fodder for many posts. We thought this January we might borrow the concept and go into the wayback machine to pull some of our oldest posts forward for a second look. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (and the occasional Saturday) be on the look-out for the first partner review, the first Open Forum, and so on. We remarked to each other a couple of weeks ago at how little traffic we got five years ago. Certainly we have a group of diehards who carry our daily conversations these days. Enjoy the trip down memory lane, and give us a thought (or a new thought) on the topic du jour.

Karen: It really is funny to go back and look at those early posts and see how few responses we got, yet we kept plugging away. And I'm glad we did! Eventually it paid off. I do look forward to hearing what you think about some of those topics now.

Doug: We'll also, as has become habit, slot some of our regular conversation departments for your daily use. So be thinking of topics for the aforementioned Open Forum, or to Discuss, and even a Who's the Best...? or Who's the Worst...? -- you'll see those sprinkled throughout the month. But in a departure from past practice, rather than the first one in grabbing all the glory (and moderating responsibilities) I think we can handle multiple topics just fine. So whatever you have to bring to the table -- bring it!

Karen: It's been a lot of fun to see what you guys come up with -I think we've had some of our liveliest discussions through these posts! I hope you kids are ready for this.

Doug: Of course we'll be around, chiming in here and there as we always do. This has become a time in the year to which we really look forward. And it's not just the break from wanting to be creative five times a week. It's fun to hear what you have to say! Thanks again for making this a labor of love -- all of our readers (even the quiet ones) are just great and we really appreciate the time you spend here each day. Have a great New Year!

Doug: Hi, again, everyone. I just read some information about the coming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie and wanted to share. Also, how about the image below, also contained in the link above?

Karen and Doug- hope you both enjoy your much-deserved vacation! The time, effort and heart you put into this blog always shows, and is always much appreciated.

Also, a big "Happy New Year" to you both, and to all those who visit the hallowed halls of BAB! May 2015 bring you all health, happiness and peace ( and maybe some good new four color reading, as well...).

Enjoy your well-earned time off! Thanks for running this blog and giving us all a community to discuss the Bronze Age comics we've loved for most of our lives.

Yes, if I recall, we had some relatively-rowdy action during this brief 'time-out' in the past.

Looking forward to it all in 2015, everyone.

Does anyone else have trouble posting comments from an iPhone? I failed at two attempts...

Anyway, this is a great time to get back into the Suggestion Box if you've made a recent request (Garett -- just a couple of days ago!). In January you'll most likely find time to allow others to explore your query. We really do look forward to these days!

I also wanted to mention the content of the Captain America Marvel Pocket Book "The Coming of the Falcon". I received it in the mail on Monday, and it reprints Captain America #s 111-119. And what a Hall of Fame that is! The Steranko issues, an issue penciled by John Buscema and inked by Sal, and the beginning of Gene Colan's run -- all scripted by Stan the Man himself. Worth every penny...

Everyone have a great, and safe, New Year's celebration.

Hi guys! Thanks for the well-wishes. I hope everyone has a fun and safe New Years! I plan to stay home with hubby and watch some movies, and make some popcorn. I have no desire to be on the road with all the amateur drinkers, thank you.

I'm not sure what to make about this news regarding the Vision's origin in the upcoming Avengers film. I suppose without Hank Pym in the picture, they felt the need to change it.It does bother me some, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt until I see it.

I wanted to note that it looks like Cheap Graphic Novels (https://www.cheapgraphicnovels.com/) has some really nice prices on books right now -some half priced! If there's a book Santa didn't bring you, you might want to look there.

Doug, I'll have to look that CA book up. By far some of the best Cap issues ever.

Oh, and TCM tonight has 'A Hard Days Night'...

In case anyone's interested. I have it on DVD, but it's always cool to watch it on Cable TV as well.
