I resolve. . .I RESOLVE. . . to get my behind sat-down and focused enough over the next year to write (at least) a rough draft of the YA-type book/story that my family's been hounding after me about doing for years now.

Humanbelly said...: Are big, boozy, raucous New Year's Eve parties still a "thing" nowadays as much as they seemed to have been in our parents' day-? I've gone to very, very few such do's in my life-- but I'm not much of a social party guy, so it's hard to gauge. Any of you folks out there sporting an egg&tobasco-appropriate hangover today from to much Ringing-In of the Baby New Year last night? Ourselves, we didn't make it to 10:30. . . (but it's been a hard week).

The primary New Year's Day tradition/mandate (HBWife-sponsored) in our household is to undecorated our enormous tree, get it out, and strike ALL of the indoor decorations. This does occupy the bulk of the day, and is no light-labor task, believe me! Getting ready to start cutting the branches off now, in fact, right after a few bites of lunch. . .

I have to say-- kind of looking forward to the upcoming year. Interesting & challenging things in the works both at home and at work. Feeling a much stronger sense of "new beginnings and opportunities" than I can remember having in a very long time. I do hope that's something that a lot of us are able to have in common, eh? Why, it makes me want to take a trip to the Logan's Run dome, and gleefully throw myself into the "Renew! Renew!" ceremony-!!

What? What? Bad comparison. . . ?

Yeah, like Rip, Edo and Redartz I hope to read more, or at least read at a quicker pace than I've been doing. I alluded to this yesterday, but lately for some reason I've been reading at a snail's pace. Hope to change that soon.

Martinex1, well, on old year's day in T & T a lot of business places (but not all) close early, so that employees can go home to spend time with their families. Some families got to Midnight Mass in their Church (although it's more of a 9:30 Mass now due to the crime situation!) and of course many people attend New Year parties later on, which I guess is a common tradition in many countries.

As fer yours truly, well, I don't go anywhere on December 31st, it's just another working day for me, no parties. On January 1st, I usually got to the New Year's luncheon at my local Chinese Association, eat some delicious food and meet up with some old friends. That's it as far as celebrating the new year goes for me.

HB, I'm with Mike from T&T on best wishes for your writing project. Keep us posted if you make any progress (and get published).
