*sigh* I resolve. . .I RESOLVE. . . to get my behind sat-down and focused enough over the next year to write (at least) a rough draft of the YA-type book/story that my family's been hounding after me about doing for years now.
Oh. . . so much work. . .
(Hmmm-- maybe I should go the graphic novel route. . . PFG, what's your year looking like, eh? :) ;) Ha!)

A very Happy New Year to everyone in BAB-land from my little corner of the world. Like Rip, I think my main resolution (as indicated in my comments to yesterday's post) is just to get some more reading done - quality reading time was actually something that was in short supply in the preceding year.
Greetings, salutations and warmest wishes for a great New Year to BAB'rs everywhere! Be safe and be well.
Resolution: to both read more and consolidate more. Hey, at least the sun is shining here this morning for the first time in a week. That's a good start for the year...
Happy New Year to ALL! I don't comment often - in fact, it's been quite a while. But, I come here and read often - it always puts a smile on my face! Thank you, ALL!
Are big, boozy, raucous New Year's Eve parties still a "thing" nowadays as much as they seemed to have been in our parents' day-? I've gone to very, very few such do's in my life-- but I'm not much of a social party guy, so it's hard to gauge. Any of you folks out there sporting an egg&tobasco-appropriate hangover today from to much Ringing-In of the Baby New Year last night? Ourselves, we didn't make it to 10:30. . . (but it's been a hard week).
The primary New Year's Day tradition/mandate (HBWife-sponsored) in our household is to undecorated our enormous tree, get it out, and strike ALL of the indoor decorations. This does occupy the bulk of the day, and is no light-labor task, believe me! Getting ready to start cutting the branches off now, in fact, right after a few bites of lunch. . .
I have to say-- kind of looking forward to the upcoming year. Interesting & challenging things in the works both at home and at work. Feeling a much stronger sense of "new beginnings and opportunities" than I can remember having in a very long time. I do hope that's something that a lot of us are able to have in common, eh? Why, it makes me want to take a trip to the Logan's Run dome, and gleefully throw myself into the "Renew! Renew!" ceremony-!!
Happy New Year to all! Hoping all of you have a healthy, happy, peaceful, and prosperous year. After an extremely trying 2015, things are looking up and I am looking forward to 2016.
Yeah, like Rip, Edo and Redartz I hope to read more, or at least read at a quicker pace than I've been doing. I alluded to this yesterday, but lately for some reason I've been reading at a snail's pace. Hope to change that soon.
William, you can do it! Don't underestimate the enormous power of positive thinking! HB, good luck on that YA novel.
Martinex1, well, on old year's day in T & T a lot of business places (but not all) close early, so that employees can go home to spend time with their families. Some families got to Midnight Mass in their Church (although it's more of a 9:30 Mass now due to the crime situation!) and of course many people attend New Year parties later on, which I guess is a common tradition in many countries.
As fer yours truly, well, I don't go anywhere on December 31st, it's just another working day for me, no parties. On January 1st, I usually got to the New Year's luncheon at my local Chinese Association, eat some delicious food and meet up with some old friends. That's it as far as celebrating the new year goes for me.
- Mike 'zzzz. Feel really sleepy after eating now' from Trinidad & Tobago.
Started the New Year off just right by finally watching the Ant-Man movie - I really liked it (and I left a lengthier comment with my impressions in last summer's post on the movie). Another fun romp from Marvel Studios, for the most part.
HB, I'm with Mike from T&T on best wishes for your writing project. Keep us posted if you make any progress (and get published). And Mike from T&T, when you mentioned going to a luncheon at the Chinese Association, it made me think of dim sum, and how long it's been since I've had really good dim sum (basically, not since 1990, in Chinatown in Oakland, CA).
Would you believe I was doing a little New Years Day cleaning and discovered the notes and sketches that I had done in preparation for what would have been my professional debut in the pages of Cracked magazine? A Nanny Dickering revival entitled " Cracked Interviews the Comic Book Editor-In-Chief of the Year. "
God, I had no idea I was so viscous.
Hey Humanbelly, talk to me man, I'm listening. At the very least you could always blame the lack of progress on me when the family starts to ask questions.
Best wishes for everyone this year . . . which I'm now starting off with a strange desire for dim sum.

Happy New Year BABsters!
Any traditions for the new year day? Usually ribs and some football and reading and games for us, but half the family is a bit under the weather.
Cheers all! Hope 2016 is a great one!
